I have a daughter

I have a daughter, she pleases me;
in almost every way.

I have a daughter, she displeases me;
almost every day.

I ache for her when she is sad,
a deep paternal pain.

I long to be her perfect dad,I long and wish in vain.

I see again those infant days,damp curls upon her face.

I wish to see her grown up days,
a person of godly grace.

To see her future thru magic glass
to know her destiny.

To see her then, ah !, winsome lass,
to see her sailing free.

But such is life that all must take ,
those fatal steps alone.

Tis this then; for dad's dear sake;
come my daughter, and be thou grown.

But take with you a father's love,
imperfect fragile thing.

For of a truth tis only love,
your poor old dad can bring.

You'll go your way, you'll do your
thing,
alas I do but pray.

The moon, the stars, the earth will sing,
I heard your father say,

" I love you cyndi " dad .
